Well, the times they are a'changin'...

But first off, thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks so much for being a part of our lives through The Bread Board. We truly enjoy having the bakery and the opportunities it gives us to express ourselves creatively and meet so many wonderful people. As many of you know, we started The Bread Board at our home over 6 years ago when we were baking in our back yard on the weekends. Back then we'd bake on Sunday mornings and friends and neighbors would come by in the afternoon to pick up bread and pastries for the week and catch up with each other. To us it was that magical realization of what we cared about most: baking bread, creating simple and delicious pastries, and bringing people together in real, authentic community. It's now been almost 5 years since we opened the bakery on Main Street in Falls City and our little bread and pastry concern has grown into a thriving bakery and pizzeria. It's a great time to reflect on what we've created and to take stock of where we've been, where we're at, and where we see ourselves headed in the future.

We firmly believe that life is about listening to your heart, finding your passions, mastering them and being fulfilled at the end of a challenging and rewarding day. That has always been the ethos that drives our vision. But we've learned that the vision must be applied consistently to the details along the way to establish and maintain the balance that creates fulfillment every day. One of the things that brings us great fulfillment and propels us forward in life is the creative process and the exciting possibilities that unfold when time, energy, and inspiration reserves are not all spent. While we're proud of everything that we do and grateful that it is so well received and loved by so many, the scope of our business has become too broad. We feel it's time to focus on our primary passions and restore some balance in our lives. Consequently we've decide to make some changes to our business that will give us the time and energy we need to allow creativity and inspiration to flow into new and exciting things for our future.

Therefore, we will remain committed to our passions. We will continue to bake bread and pastries and have them available at our bakery in Falls City on Fridays and Saturdays, and at local farmers' markets. And we will remain open, serving all of your regular lunch favorites at our bakery on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm so that folks can continue to gather around good food and build community with each other. However, Sunday, January 11, 2015 will be the ending of our much-loved evening pizza adventure and we will no longer be open on Sundays at all thereafter.

We want to reassure you though, that ending our on-going pizza adventure will be freeing up time and energy for us to create periodic new and exciting food events that we hope will help fill the void created by the closing of our evening pizza dinners. And we hope that all of you will stay connected to The Bread Board and join in these special events as they unfold. Many of you have fond memories of our "Dinner with Fire and Wine" evenings and we're happy to announce that Aaron is back and has begun menu planning for 2015. Many of you have also inquired about having events at The Bread Board and we're exploring the possibility of opening our space for those kinds of special moments too. We're very excited about infusing new ideas and fresh energy into our lunch menu and our existing bread and pastry production. And we're also excited about the unknown. We had no idea that we were laying the groundwork for The Bread Board when we baked those first loaves of bread and scones in our backyard brick oven 6 years ago. So who knows what great things will come? Of course, you will still be able to make the scenic drive out to the bakery to pick up your favorite loaf or pastry, have lunch, see our beautiful space and wood fired oven, and keep an eye on what we're up to…

We appreciate your continued support at The Bread Board and look forward to seeing you at the farmers' markets and at our bakery in Falls City. Please refer to our website, www.thebreadboard.net, or face book page for special events and dinners and to inquire about event rentals at The Bread Board. If you would like us to include you in notifications regarding special events via a periodic e-newsletter, please send your email address to us at info@thebreadboard.net.

Growing and learning and changing create wonderful opportunities for life and living. We celebrate and find inspiration in the marvelous examples all around us. As we grow and learn and change, we look forward to the beautiful unknown that will inevitably take shape from the decisions we've made that honor our unique journey.

Cheers to you and cheers to us as we all follow our passions...
